How to set your root password

Please note, making any changes that require root can be extremely dangerous.  If you ever directly modify files in such a way, ALWAYS make a copy of the file first.

Need to set your root password?  No worries, here’s how!

First, log into your cPanel.  Then go to the performance tab.

go to server

Once on the server tab go to Access Management.

cpanel_server

Now just update your root password.

cpanel_rootpw

Then you are all done and good to go.

This password is used to access anything that requires root access.  Such as your WHM, or even the command line interface (via system console or SSH) for your server.
